Getting Into Cozy Gaming and a Few Games I’ve Been Loving So Far!
Before I begin, I just want to express how shocked but kind of not shocked I am that I kind of got into gaming! Ever since the Nintendo Switch came out I’ve been thinking if I should get one or not, which one would suit my needs, and what I would want to use it for. I didn’t get one at the time because I felt like maybe it would just be another trend that would die out and I’d forget about it. Fast forward a few years later, and I’m still thinking about it.. I knew I had to get it!
What pushed me to get it even more right now was the fact that I wanted to be able to play Hogwarts Legacy, a game I was already playing on and off, in a way that felt easily accessible, and comfortable for me. And ofcourse, as a new gamer who isn’t really a gamer, I went on a deep dive of what games were available out there, which was how I ended up in the world of cozy gamers!
In Cozy Grove, you are a spirit scout in a haunted bear island, and it’s up to you to help these ghost bears make it to the after life. This game has the cutest characters, and is so heartwarming, using the words ‘haunted’, or ‘ghost’ doesn’t make it creepy in any way.
As a real-time game, Cozy Grove is designed to give you a specific set of tasks for the day, which is perfect for people who are busy or don’t want to spend their whole day lost in the game. Of course once your tasks are done you still have the freedom to collect things & design your island.
I found it super relaxing, these days it’s been the perfect game to play when my day is done, & I just want to shut off for a while before bed. It’s the perfect choice for those who already have a lot on their plate, but still want to make time for cozy gaming.
I haven’t played Animal Crossing yet but, I saw a lot of people online compare Cozy Grove to it. So if you are an Animal Crossing fan, and want a different storyline with the same vibe, definitely check this one out.
The other game I’ve been loving is obviously Hogwarts Legacy! The comfort this one brings goes deeper than any other cozy game would, if you grew up around the Harry Potter books or movies, and you feel like you have a deep connection with them, this game is definitely for you. Through living as a student at Hogwarts, you get the opportunity to go on quests, make new friends, explore the different houses, and more! I haven’t finished the game yet, but I’ve heard of people who were able to binge it all at once in a short time. So if you want to fully teleport to Hogwarts, and get away from the real world, this game made that possible for you.
As someone who used to play it on PlayStation and switched to playing on Nintendo Switch Lite, I was worried the graphics would be bad. Just because of how clear it was on the PlayStation, but to be honest it isn’t that bad at all. Maybe I’m not the type to criticize that much when it comes to graphics and stuff, but I feel satisfied playing it on the Switch. I guess it just comes down to what’s important to you when it comes to these things.
Going ahead and finally getting the Switch Lite now is something I’m definitely happy with, even though I’m probably a few years late. In my opinion it’s the perfect way to ease yourself into the world of gaming if you’re not a gamer, if you have a busy schedule and you want to have a small console that won’t take up much weight or space, or if you want it specifically for solo gaming/playing online. This is just the beginning of my gaming journey, I’m eager to see what other games out there catch my eye, and what paths I end up taking with this new hobby of mine.
